a bit about Jen….
Originally from Sydney, Jen Hawley has been teaching and performing for many years. She started playing guitar at 16 to play in an all-girl heavy metal band. Now you’re more likely to see Jen pulling out some jazz licks and crooning Billy Holiday ballads. My how times change!
She trained in classical guitar, cut her teeth on the cover band circuit in Sydney when she was 18 and studied jazz with Bruce Clarke. During the last 5 years Jen has also made a name for herself as a guitar workshop tutor at community music events such as Turramurra and Roses Gap Folk Music Camps. Jen has also presented workshops at Port Fairy and National Folk Festivals.
Currently Jen teaches from her home studio, plays concerts and gigs with many bands, including The Great Chefs of Europe, and teaches guitar at Kingsville Primary School.
Reviews
Turramurra Folk Music Camp 2008. …Also I attended the Beginner’s Guitar workshops which were excellent, I learnt a few new tips and techniques and very much enjoyed being part of the group performance – thanks for your mentoring. Regards, Tim
